PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – A call of a possible wreck with injury sent Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Fox to the 4500 block of Hwy 297 on Saturday morning just after midnight. When Fox arrived, he spoke with Phillip Andrew Stiemetz who reported he was the driver of the Dodge Caravan.

He continued that he had run off the road and into a tree, as Fox was talking with the man, he noticed he had slurred speech, was swaying back and forth as he stood. Fox asked Stiemetz to step over to his patrol car and on the way Stiemetz was stumbling as if he was having trouble keeping his balance, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Fox had the man do a series of field sobriety test on which he performed poorly. Stiemetz was transported to the Campbell County Jail where he was read the Tennessee Implied Consent Law and after having the consequences for refusal to submit a sample explained to him, he refused to provide a sample for blood testing.

Stiemetz, 55, 359 Elk Fork Rd, Pioneer was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and violation implied consent law. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/25/2022-6AM)
