PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – There were two serious motor vehicle accidents, one involving a motorcycle, on Tuesday at 8:53am and 7:39pm with a patient being flown out in each mishap.

In the morning accident, on the Howard Baker Highway, Highway 63, a Ford F-150 pick-up truck and a Chevy Malibu, both 2021 models, collided near Stinking Creek Road. The preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the Ford was traveling east on Hwy 63 while the Chevy was headed west with the Ford crossing the center line striking the Chevy.

The Ford was driven by 60-year- old Robin Bailey of Pioneer. Bailey was airlifted to a Knoxville hospital while the driver of the Chevy, 34-year-old Jonathan Watson of Sweetwater, was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.

Just before sunset, a car and a motorcycle collided on the Caryville bound side of the four lane at the turn in to Zaxby’s at Jacksboro.  The motorcycle rider, a 35 year old man from Maryville, according to central dispatch, was airlifted from the La Follette Medical Center helipad. The woman driving the car appeared to be shaken up, not injured.

Traffic was detoured through Jacksboro proper at the Eagle Market stop light and at the First Volunteer Bank cut across. 

Multiple agencies responded to the scene of the wreck. Investigators with Jacksboro Police are handling the investigation.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/23/2022-6AM)
