JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents are investigating the circumstances leading to the death of an inmate at the Campbell County Jail.

Around 5:30am, Justin Watts, 37, of Jellico was found unresponsive in his cell. Jail staff attempted to resuscitate him until paramedics arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body has been sent for an autopsy.

“We immediately contacted the TBI and the district attorney’s office,” said Sheriff Robbie Goins. “We will be cooperating fully with the investigation.”
