JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Your help is needed to fill the van; the Sleep in Heavenly Peace van. On Thursday and Friday, United Cumberland Bank is hosting a bed drive when the big white van will be parked in the bank parking lot.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace builds beds for youngsters who do not have a bed. However, beyond the bed builds comes the need for bedding, and that’s where you come in during this week’s “fill the van bedding drive” event.

Bill Thompson, president of the local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and the volunteers with SHP will be on hand to accept your donations of new twin size bedding and other accessories from 11am until 4pm March 3rd and 4th. Thompson stresses that they are in desperate need for new pillows, printed twin sheet sets, comforters and the bed in a bag sets.

United Cumberland Bank is on the four lane at Jacksboro next to McDonald’s.

Bill Thompson reminds you of the Sleep in Heavenly Peace slogan as he recorded an announcement last week at WLAF; “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”

“We’re also hosting our first bed build of the year this Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, and we’re needing folks to come help build beds for children in our community who do not have beds,” said Thompson. He points out that you don’t need any experience or tools just a desire to come help. The build runs from 10am until noon maybe 1pm, and the goal is to build 20-30 beds depending on how many helpers there are.
