LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Thursday afternoon the City of La Follette Regional Planning Commission voted on positions. Joe Bolinger retained his status as chairman. Mark Hoskins was voted in as vice chairman. Phillip Farmer will take over as the secretary. There were also a few new faces sitting around the table as Dwight Crutchfield and Jeff Herrell joined the other commission members.

Not only was the table crowded with the addition of the commission’s new members, the citizen chairs were also full as the schedule was packed after an agenda revision was made. On the original agenda, applicants William Sterling and Larry Wagner were listed, but their requests and paperwork were already being handled.

On the revised agenda, Brandon Johnson was up first for a request to subdivide his property at 2545 Jacksboro Pike. Johnson was looking to separate the front half of the property from the vacant lot on the back. According to the survey, there is a 30 foot easement that allows access to the vacant part of the land. However, that easement has not been approved by TDOT. Without the approved easement, the vacant lot can become landlocked. The members voted to grant a preliminary approval contingent on the TDOT approval of the easement and as long as Johnson received all the correct signatures from the utilities.

Lastly, Travis and Renee Wormsley, owners of Sweets and Treats, were seeking approval of the new building for their business. According to Hoskins, about a year ago the Wormsley’s were approved by the city to place their food truck at 2558 Jacksboro Pike. Now the owners hope to have a more permanent structure. The request was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/25/2022-6AM)
