LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – There was no shortage of drama when police arrived Wednesday at 4:13am to an apartment in the complex behind Riggs Drug. “She hit me with a hammer several times,” said Vinny Johnson. LaFollette Police Officer Mike Satkowski described his first sight of Johnson as “he was covered in blood.”

Those involved in what police describe as a domestic disturbance were listed in the LPD narrative as 41-year- old Vinny Johnson 203 North 11th St. La Follette, Destiny Wynn, 18, 114 West Quincy Ave. Knoxville, 40-year- old Donna Wynn, mother of Destiny, 1809 Oakmont Circle Louisville, and an 18-year-old male witness.

Satkowski began looking for the hammer. There was a blood trail through the apartment from the front door through the kitchen and then into the bedroom, the report said.

Donna Wynn left the property prior to the arrival of police and then returned a short while later. Satkowski placed her in the back of his patrol car as the search for the hammer continued.

When Johnson was questioned, he said that both Wynns and the witness came into the apartment around 1am. He went on to tell the officer that he stood up and a verbal argument started between them, he and Donna Wynn, about her using drugs, and that he was going to report her to the department of children services. Johnson told Satkowski that he turned to walk back to the bedroom and felt something strike the back of his head and allegedly saw that it was Donna Wynn striking him with a small hammer. The two fought as he took the hammer away from her while Destiny Wynn and the witness allegedly started to fight Johnson, but he managed to get out of the apartment. Johnson did allegedly admit that he put his arm around Donna Wynn’s neck.

Donna Wynn’s said she thought the altercation began in the bedroom when Johnson grabbed her by the throat and began to choke her. She said she managed to get him off her and went to the kitchen where he began to assault her again, and that’s when she allegedly said she grabbed the hammer and struck Johnson. The fight continued into the living room where the other two tried to break up the fight.

Destiny Wynn said the confrontation between Johnson and Donna Wynn allegedly involved the two fist fighting with each other and started when he threatened to call DCS. She added that Johnson struck her mother, Donna Wynn, first, and then Donna Wynn grabbed the hammer and began hitting Johnson.

The stories of what happened left the officer unable to determine who the primary aggressor was. Satkowski arrested both Johnson and Donna Wynn.

According to the report from the LPD, Johnson received five staples to the back of his head and one stitch on his left hand. Donna Wynn had ligature marks around both sides of her neck and complained of it hurting. The officer also detailed that she had a red mark on her left cheek with scratches.

During the search for the hammer, the officer allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana and asked if anyone was smoking pot. Destiny Wynn allegedly said that they all were. Satkowski found what appeared to be marijuana inside the apartment.

Destiny Wynn was arrested and charged with possession of schedule VI controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Donna Wynn and Johnson were both charged with aggravated assault. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/24/2022-6AM)
