Named to the District 4-AAAA All-Tournament Team were Lady Cougars Karlie Whited (left) and Cora Browning.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – For a team with a new coach, only two seniors and the rest of the players freshmen and sophomores, the Campbell County Lady Cougars are on their way to the regional tournament after a two-year absence. Campbell claimed third place in Monday night’s District 3-AAAA consolation game after a regular season third place finish. Central fell to the host Lady Cougars last night 50-41.

In her final appearance on Brown Court, Milligan College signee Cora Browning could not have put on a better showing for her hometown fans and family. They were all there, dad, Ryan, coaching from the bench, mom, Jill, the Lady Cougar legend, in the stands along with grandparents Jerry and Margetta Cox. Little brother Luke was there as well. Number 24 posted 14 first half points and was 9 for 11 from the stripe leading the game in scoring with 23.

Freshman Karlie Whited tallied 11 while another Carley and freshman, Kitts, chipped in eight points followed by two points each from Bailey Gillum, Saylor Hutcheson, Bella Lester and Lacey Pemberton.

The Lady Cougars will play the Lady Admirals on Lynn Sexton Court at Farragut on Friday night in a 7pm round one region game. WLAF will have the live broadcast with the Voice of the Cougars Josh Parker.

Traditional powerhouse Farragut finished second to Bearden on Monday night at Heritage High in the District 4-AAAA championship game. Bearden won 62-50.

Farragut is 23 & 7 for the season compared to Campbell’s 19 & 10 mark. The Lady Admirals have won eight of their last 10 games with the two losses coming against Bearden. Campbell is 6 & 4 in its past 10 games with four of those games coming in a five day span.

All games will be played at Campbell County High School.
