JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Today is School Resource Officer Appreciation Day.

“SROs are valuable and essential members of our schools” said Sheriff Robbie Goins. “They deserve our respect and support for keeping students safe.”

The Campbell County SRO program was founded in 2010 through a partnership between Sheriff Robbie Goins and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and the Campbell County Board of Education. Over the past 12years, the program has grown to be one of the area’s best programs and even has a K-9 unit devoted to keeping local schools safe the sheriff adds.

In addition to standard law enforcement training, SROs receive specific training on subjects relevant to working with students like peer pressure, bullying and more.

“We just wanted to share just how thankful we are for the men and women of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office who are SROs. Thank you, SROs, for all that you do,” said Sheriff Goins. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/15/2022-6AM)
