COALFIELD, TN (WLAF) – Coach Mike Reynolds and his Jellico Blue Devils won for the 20th time on Thursday night as the 13th ranked Blue Devils knocked off Coalfield on the Yellow Jackets home court 79-68.

A victory this evening at Washburn clinches the number one seed for Jellico in the upcoming District 2-A tournament. Ironically, both Jellico and Campbell High play in Grainger County tonight as the Cougars play the Grainger Grizzlies at Rutledge.

“Twenty-win seasons don’t come around our way often. Our coaches and players have done a great job,” said Jellico Principal Danny “Dino” Oakes after last night’s win.

While Jellico has won five straight games, Washburn is on a 10-game skid. Jellico is 20 & 7 in all games with a 4 & 1 district mark while the Pirates are 6 & 19/0 & 5. Jellico won the first meeting 74-52. That was on Jan. 31at Lindsay Gym. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/11/2022-6AM)
