LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Foster parents are often faced with filling a last minute need for their foster children. Sometimes children come into care without adequate clothing or hygiene items. This can often be stressful for foster parents who are trying to make these children comfortable in their new home.  But there’s an organization here to help alleviate some of that stress.

The Compassion Closet has five locations in East Tennessee, one of the newest locations is in Campbell County at 604 W. Central Avenue next to the old Corner Market. The location opened in September and began serving families. The closet has clothing from birth through teen/adult sizes. All types of baby gear, diapers, wipes, toys and school supplies as well as coats and shoes.

The Compassion Closet exists to provide a quick-turn assistance to foster, kinship and adoptive families in the east Tennessee area.
