FOUNTAIN CITY, TN (WLAF) – Lots of former Cougars and coaches tried their best on Monday to remember the last time Campbell automatically qualified for the region finishing as high as second in the district, and I’m not sure a mutual conclusion was ever reached. However, after last night’s 71-55 win, we do know that this year’s Cougar team did wrap up second place in the district and qualifies for the region tournament, and that’s all that really matters. Watch the game HERE on demand from WLAF.

Spencer Boshears rang up 22 points while Devon Jones poured through 18, and Campbell County won in the make-up game with Central that was a month in the making. The game, originally slated for January 7, was postponed twice because of snow and ice conditions. Zac Brady, John Long and Nate Walden each posted eight points a piece as Brady and Long combined for 24 rebounds. Bryson Horton and Jack Leach tallied three each and David Adkins chalked up a point in the memorable victory.

The Cougars are 12 & 11 in all games and finish the regular season district schedule at 6 & 4. Campbell hosts the Union Patriots tonight at Brown Gym on Senior Night. They’ll play at Rutledge on Friday night in a rematch with the Grainger Grizzlies with the prospects of adding another game next week to avoid a long lay over without game action before the district semi-finals on Sat., Feb. 19.

Josh Parker and company bring you all the game action on Senior Night beginning at 6pm over the WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network. That’s AM 1450 and FM 100.9 on the radio and WLAF-TV 12 on television with the live telecast also over Facebook, YouTube, Roku TV, Amazon Firestick and right here over the WLAF and the Lindsay’s Carpet & Paint Center video player.
