Matt Edens with TDOT reported that Hwy 63-Stiner Hwy will not be closed, however during paving on the project some side roads could have limited access to the highway and may need to utilize detour routes to reach their destination.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – On Monday afternoon, Paul Baxter a resident on Back Valley Road spoke to the LaFollette City Council at the monthly workshop about his traffic concerns.

Baxter told the council he was concerned Back Valley Road was going to be used as a detour for Hwy 63 during construction. Baxter reported that signs had been put up on Hwy 63 but were covered with trash bags.

City Administrator Stan Foust told Baxter on Monday that he would follow up with TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) the following day about the issue. WLAF reached out to Public Works Director Casey Boshears and Foust about the matter. Foust contacted Matt Edens who is the construction supervisor for the project for TDOT. Edens reported that Hwy 63-General Carl Stiner Hwy will not be closed, however during paving on the project some side roads could have limited access to the highway and may need to utilize detour routes to reach their destination. 1. This is the most ridiculous and unnecessary project! They took a perfectly fine roadway and view of the valley and destroyed it. The state and most importantly Potter’s should be ashamed of themselves.
