JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The District 3-AAAA Basketball Tournament semi-final match ups for the Campbell Cougars and Lady Cougars are set and will be played on Brown Court beginning tonight. Watch the Lady Cougars and Powell at 7:30pm by clicking on the WLAF-Lindsay’s Carpet & Paint Center video player. The good folks at Southern Sass Boutique have taken care of the TSSAA clearance fee to allow WLAF to televise the game live. Thank you, Southern Sass Boutique.
Though the Cougars and Lady Cougars have already qualified to play in the regional tournament, there are still district tournament games to be played as the tourney enters day three. These games will determine the seeding at the regionals.
The Lady Cougars square off against Powell in a 7:30pm game tonight. WLAF’s Josh Parker brings you the live television coverage here over the WLAF – Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network.
The Cougars face long time rival Karns on Saturday at Brown Gym. That’s a 7:30pm start time also televised over WLAF.
The Lady Cougars had games of opposites with Powell losing both times the two teams played during the regular season. At home on Jan. 11, Powell squeezed out a 38-34 win before handing the Lady Cougars their worst district loss of 67-29 at Powell on Jan. 28.
The worst loss of the season for the Cougars was at Karns on Dec. 10 when the Beavers won 91-64. However, the Cougars won the rematch on Jan. 24 with a 79-70 homecourt victory.
In Wednesday’s quarterfinals, the Lady Cougars blasted winless West 60 to 27. Freshman Lacey Pemberton was tops for the night with 13 followed by 10 points each from Emma Brandenburg and Cora Browning. Karlie Whited and Saylor Hutcheson scored six points each as Bella Lester and Carley Kitts had five points a piece. Bailey Gillum chipped in three points and Lexy Morris added two. The Lady Cougars are 18 & 9..
