JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Just seeing the date when the Karns basketball game is scheduled to be played on Brown Court is more than enough to get Cougar fans, especially those of a certain age, fired up. Coach Ernie Clawson’s Campbell Cougars learned about the Campbell-Karns rivalry years ago and have done their part to hold court. Monday night was no exception. Watch all the highlights and the entire games right HERE on demand from WLAF.

Defense and converting free throws proved to be the difference makers for the Cougars in Monday night’s make up game after a postponement due to snowy weather. Campbell was 22-24 at the free throw line in the second half going 28 of 34 for the game to claim the 79-70 win. Though the Cougars earned every point of their win after battling back from an early double-digit deficit.

Nate Walden posted 15 points in each half for a 30-point night to go along with his stellar defensive effort. Spencer Boshears, also playing stingy on the defensive end of Brown Court, tallied 20 points. Devin Jones added 10 points, Zac Brady nine to go along with four from Bryson Horton and two markers each came from Jack Leach, Will Lester and John Long. David Adkins played and did not score.

Karns falls to 14 & 5 and then 2 & 4 in District 3-AAAA games while Campbell improves to 8 & 9 in all games and 2 & 3 in the league.

After a 15 to 2 first quarter start, the Lady Cougars did what they were expected to do, and that is run away from the Karns Lady Beavers. Campbell ran all the way to its 12th win of the season in a 63 to 36 game.

Bailey Gillum was tops for Campbell with 10 points followed by a trio of nine point scorers in Carley Kitts, Lacey Pemberton and Karlie Whited. Eight points each came from Emma Brandenburg and Bella Lester. On the night, Cora Browning put up six points as Saylor Hutcheson and Lexy Morris each had two points.

Karns is now 7 & 10 with a 1 and 4 district worksheet. The Lady Cougars improved to 12 & 5 for the season and 3 & 2 in District 3-AAAA games.

Central visits John R.W. Brown Gymnasium tonight for another district match-up. The Lady Cougar JVs open the triple header at 4:30 followed by the Lady Cougars and Central at 6pm and the Cougars and Central in the 7:30 night cap. Josh Parker and company have all the live televised coverage right here beginning at 6pm on the WLAF – Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network.
