JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Tim Byrge teaches eighth grade United States History at Jacksboro Middle School. He has been an educator for 19 years, with one year as an assistant principal, and he has taught at both the elementary school and middle school levels.

Byrge said he views each day as a new day with many challenges, but it is his job to help keep his students encouraged and focused.

Tim Byrge was chosen as district Teacher of the Year as the middle school representative.

He said he loves being part of a child’s learning process and tries to make “teaching and learning fun, and memorable” for his students.”

“My favorite part is when a student can smile and make those personal connections. Then, years later students can still smile and remind you of those special moments that they experienced while in your class,” Byrge said.

According to Jacksboro Middle School Principal Gretchen Thomas, “Mr. Byrge demonstrates his dedication everyday as a teacher and a co-worker to help students at JMS to be the best they can be!”

Byrge gives this advice to other teachers: “One thing I have learned is to be honest, be respectful, be caring, be a team player, be a problem solver, be a leader, and most of all, be true to myself.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/20/2022-6AM)
