JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Two years after the Muse family was arrested for stealing more than $250,000 worth of items, Monica Muse is the only defendant without an end to the saga. Original story.

Last month, her husband, and alleged co-conspirator, John Muse, Sr., died. As a result, the charges against him were abated, meaning the case will not continue.

In Feb. 2021, the couple’s son, and partner in crime, John Muse, Jr., pleaded guilty to six counts of theft over $2,500, three counts of theft over $1,000, two counts of theft $10,000, three counts of theft under $1,000 and one count of theft over $60,000. He wasn’t sentenced at the time. That was delayed pending his testifying against his parents, which hasn’t occurred. Related story.

In court Tuesday, it was announced that Monica Muse’s case would be reviewed March 28.

She still faces six counts of theft over $2,500, three counts of theft over $10,000, two counts theft over $10,000, four counts of theft under $1,000, three counts unlawful possession of a weapon, theft over $60,000.

Authorities discovered the family’s cache of stolen items in Nov. 2019.

From siding to perfume to food, the Muse home had an abundant quantity of just about everything both new and used, said Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins at the time.

During the investigation, police learned that some of the items recovered at the Muse home dated back to thefts that were reported over four years ago. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 01/20/2022- 6AM)
