LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A La Follette Police undercover drug agent nabbed an unsuspecting drug dealer in an exchange that began online.

“Steven Craig Huckaby, 37, of 249 Crestview Lane, Jacksboro arranged to sell me an 8ball of methamphetamine via Facebook Messenger for $130,” said LPD Det./Sgt. Matthew Forsyth. Forsyth goes on to say that Huckaby asked him to meet around Walker’s Grocery Store in east La Follette.

“I picked Huckaby up and began to drive when he said he thought I looked familiar,” said the Det./Sgt. It was too late, Forsyth had already seen the bag of meth in Huckaby’s left jacket pocket according to the report from the La Follette Police Department. Forsyth told Huckaby to place his hands on the dashboard as Captain Steve Wallen and Sergeant Homer Herrell approached the car and then placed Huckaby under arrest.

According to the narrative from the La Follette Police Department, Huckaby stated that he only sells meth to pay for his habit, and that the smaller bag of meth in his jacket pocket was packaged to sell to Forsyth.

Officers located two bags of methamphetamine in Huckaby’s jacket pocket along with a set of scales and several needles. It was determined that the total weight of both bags was approximately 9.998 grams and was confirmed to be meth by the Tru Narc Analyzer.

Huckaby was charged with the manufacture, deliver, sell of schedule II and unlawful drug paraphernalia. He remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning and is due in court on January 25. Based on jail records, this was Huckaby’s 26th arrest. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/07/2022-6AM)
