A celebration in Granny Johnson’s honor was held on Tuesday.

HICKORY CREEK, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Margaret Johnson Morrow lives on Hickory Creek Lane in Campbell County, where she has lived for the past 72 years.  She was married to the late Dedrich “Deck” Johnson, and they had five children together.  Several years after his passing she remarried Nelson Morrow.

Margaret is still quick witted and sharp as a tack. If meeting her for the first time, you would never guess she was 100 years old.  Immediate family gathered at her home on Sunday to celebrate with her.  She even made her pimento cheese and fruit salad.

She loved traveling and did so until the last several years.  Although, you may still see her visiting Cades Cove or Muddy Pond, as she does still frequently.  She loved gardening, both vegetables and flowers, and canning outside over and open fire. Margaret was one of the first members of the Rock Creek Church of God and is still an active member. She has long been a football and basketball fan and still avidly watches the Vols on tv.  You may run into Margaret on Thursdays at the store, as that has been her shopping day for more than 70 years.

Margaret Johnson Morrow lives on Hickory Creek Lane and turns 100-years old on Jan. 5.

Please join us in wishing “Granny Johnson” a Happy 100th Birthday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/05/2022-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF PAM WALDEN)
