LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – ,Retired Lt. Col. W. Logan Hickman Jr. of La Follette, was honored at the South Campbell County Rotary Club lunch Tuesday with a proclamation. 

State Rep. Dennis Powers presented the proclamation to Hickman in honor of his work in ROTC at the University of Tennessee and his recent induction into the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s UT Army ROTC Council. The induction was to honor ROTC Alumni who have excelled in their military and civilian careers. Related story.

According to Hickman, he has used his status as a ROTC alumni to support the mission of “honoring the past and supporting the future.”

Powers said he was proud to present the proclamation to Hickman in recognition of his years of support.

Campbell County Mayor E.L. Morton was a guest speaker at the Rotary Club lunch. He spoke about ARPA funding, infrastructure opportunities, the playground project in Caryville and other topics.

In other Rotary Club business, it was announced that the South Campbell County Rotary Club donated $500 to Kentucky Tornado relief. According to South Campbell County Rotary Club President Rayma Daugherty, District 6780 wanted to assist communities in need who were affected by the tornado. The district offered to match donations, making South Campbell County’s donation total $1,000 going to help those in Kentucky. 

Daugherty also reported that the club’s annual pancake breakfast raised more than $1,800.

She said she wanted to say thank you to all who sold tickets. The money raised supported the Purple Pinkie Donuts Project to help End Polio Now. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/05/2022-6AM)
