TOP STORY: Firefighters with the Caryville and Jacksboro Fire Departments, Campbell County Rural Fire Service and the Tennessee Division of Forestry battle a wildfire in the wee hours of Christmas morning.

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Homes were saved, no one was injured and there was no property damage resulting from a 3:15am brush fire on Christmas morning. With winds gusting between 30 and 40 miles per hour, firefighters with the Caryville Fire Department battled a fire in the middle of the woods at 772 Mountain Road. That’s just above town on the side of Caryville Mountain.

Mutual aid was requested from the Jacksboro Fire Department, Campbell County Rural Fire Service and the Tennessee Division of Forestry. As Caryville Firerfighters were protecting two nearby homes, they discovered a downed power line believed to be the cause of the fire. Once the electricity was shut off from the power line, fire units finished extinguishing the fire.
