JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – It was Sunday afternoon when Zachary Tyler Bolton parked his car in the sally port and entered the Campbell County Jail prompting deputies to ask what he was doing. The extremely intoxicated Bolton, according to the report from the sheriff’s office, told Deputy Walter Harmon that he was there to get his mother.

The report said Bolton became very disorderly when he was questioned. Deputy Joseph McCulley told Bolton to exit the jail and stepped down from the booking desk to guide Bolton out of the jail. As the deputy reached for Bolton, Bolton allegedly swung around and struck McCulley on the left side of his face. Deputy Addison Williams was also assaulted during the struggle based on the sheriff’s office report. Deputies learned that Bolton entered the jail without consent for the purpose of getting his mother out of jail.

Bolton, 27, 107 Island Ford Road, Jacksboro, was charged with PI (public intoxication), disorderly conduct, burglary, two counts of assault on a police officer, driving while suspended and resisting arrest. Jail records indicate Bolton, arrested for the seventh time, remains in jail without bond awaiting a January court date.

As it turns out, Bolton’s mother was not in jail according to one jail official. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/22/2021-6AM)
