This head on collision happened in the noon hour on Monday across from the former IGA.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Three vehicles were involved in a wreck that injured four people on Monday afternoon on the four lane in front of the NAPA Auto Parts Store. Original story.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol details in its preliminary report that at 12:10pm 44-year old William Thomas Poston was traveling toward La Follette (east) on Old Jacksboro Pike while being pursued by police. Poston allegedly ran the stop sign at U-S Hwy. 25W at the NAPA Store crossing on to U-S 25W. Poston’s 2001 Honda Civic struck the right rear side of a 2011 Kia Optima driven by 81-year old Bernadine Johnson causing it to travel off the roadway. It was inferred in the report that the Kia was Jacksboro bound (west) on U-S 25W.

The four lane (U-S Hwy. 25W) was shutdown for the better part of an hour on Monday as a result of the head on crash.

Veronica Snyder, age 44, was headed toward Jacksboro (west) on U-S Hwy. 25W in a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Poston and his Honda were struck head on by Snyder and her Chrysler according to the THP preliminary report. The Honda and Chrysler came to a final rest in the roadway (4-lane/U-S Hwy. 25W).

Injured were Poston, Snyder, 38-year old Jody Teague, in Poston’s car, and a 17-year old boy in the Chrysler. Johnson was not injured. Poston and Snyder were airlifted from the scene and transported to Knoxville hospitals. Only Poston and Teague were not wearing seat belts based on the THP report.

Poston and Snyder were flown by medical helicopters to a Knoxville hospital.

All five people involved in the accident are from La Follette. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/21/2021-1PM)
