These two vehicles hit head on not long after noon on Monday.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A compact car collided with a mini-van on the four lane in front of NAPA Auto Parts in the lunch hour on Monday afternoon. The drivers of both vehicles were airlifted by medical helicopters that landed nearby on the four lane at Valley Roofing.

The driver of this compact car was airlifted to a Knoxville hospital.
The orange helicopter landed first with the other chopper landing moments later. You can see the rotor wash coming from the blue helicopter.
The air bag deployed in this mini van.

All lanes of traffic were shutdown ahead of the landing zone set up for the two med choppers. Traffic was backed up about two miles in each direction from the accident site.

La Follette Fire Department’s newest unit, its Medical Rescue Truck, answered the call Monday afternoon.
The four lane was either totally shutdown or traffic was inching along for the better part of two-hours.
