Robert Lee Nelson, age 92 of Knoxville, formerly of LaFollette, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. He was born on January 26, 1929 to the late William and Sarah (Boshears) Nelson. Robert enjoyed playing games, being with his family, and attending church at Cave Creek Baptist Church in Kingston.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Cora Nelson; son Earnest Nelson; grandson Joe Nelson; brothers Charlie Nelson, Millard Nelson, Dewey Nelson, and Paul Nelson, Wheeler Nelson; sister Callie Richardson and Emma Long; and six other infant siblings.

He is survived by his daughter Joyce Burton of Knoxville; son David Nelson and wife Mary of Lenior City; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Derrick Hembree and Rev. Darwin Nelson officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2021 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Bakers Forge Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment.
