LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Tuesday’s attendees to the South Campbell County Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon will have the chance to hear and meet David Hicks and author, Jocelyn Woods Griffo. Hicks will share his story and will have copies of his newly released book about his life, “To Be Somebody; Life Story of a Man Called P. David Hicks.”

Hicks book is available for purchase, $20 each, at Katie’s Restaurant and the La Follette Public Library.

Here’s a snippet: “Born in post-WWII forties, raised in the fifties in a scruffy Appalachian small town with extremely limited career opportunities, David escaped in the sixties via the U.S. Army only to find himself at the age of 18 on Hill 875 in Vietnam — one of the deadliest engagements of that infamous war.

Proceeds from the sale of David Hicks new book go to local charities.

Now strapped with post traumatic stress disorder, he refused to lose his vision of becoming a person of merit — …through years of struggle, he became a highly successful homegrown entrepreneur. God came along on the journey.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/13/2021-6AM)
