Lillie Mae (Huddleston) Lay, age 83, of the Brick Plant Hollow Community of Jellico, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2021 at the Tennova Health – Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 7, 1938, to the late Kenny (Bud) Huddleston and Elsie Mae (Parrott) Huddleston in Clairfield, TN.

She was a long-time member of the Tannery Hollow Missionary Baptist Church.

Mae was the granddaughter of the late Finley Huddleston and Flora Huddleston and the late Isaac Parrott and Susie (Bowman) Parrott.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl “Punk” Huddleston, Virgil Huddleston, Raymond Huddleston, and Jimmy Huddleston; three sisters, Ruth Huddleston, Marie Huddleston, and Patsy Dale Huddleston; niece, Michelle Lee Huddleston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Simon “Jiggs” Lay and Christine (Buckner) Lay; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann (Lay) Weaver, Wanda (Lay) Walker, and husband, Larry, Myrtle Lambdin, and husband, Bobby, and Tammy Lay.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Lay, Jr.; daughter, Rhonda (Lay) Marlow, and husband, Floyd, all of the Brick Plant Community of Jellico; grandson, Tyler Adam Marlow, and fiancée, Kacee Warren, of Johnson City ,TN; two sisters, Geneva Huddleston and Brenda Shillings, both of Jellico; three nephews, Bradley Huddleston, Clayton Hackler, and Wayne Huddleston; two nieces, Tiffaney Sharp and Melissa Hackler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donnie Lay, Beverly (Lay) Hatfield, and husband, Dave, Jeanette Huddleston, and Charles Weaver; her beloved dog, Susie; and a host of friends, neighbors and other relatives to mourn her passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday evening, December 16, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.  The funeral will immediately follow on Thursday evening, December 16, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester Cox and Rev. Kenny Buckner officiating.

Interment will follow on Friday afternoon, December 17, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the Douglas Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brett Begluitti, Gage Hyslope, Donnie Lay, Jr., Bradley Huddleston, Daniel Smith, Cody Troxell, Cody Luttrel, Nate Hatfield, Carl Walp, and Johnny Honeycutt.

Cox & Son Funeral Home of Jellico is in charge of all arrangements.
