Mr. David Robinette Shelby, age 89, died on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Ben Atchley State Veterans’ Home in Knoxville, Tennessee. David was born on September 1, 1932, and raised in LaFollette, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Marion and Elizabeth (Robinette) Shelby. David graduated with his B.S. from Carson-Newman College and his M.S. from Michigan State University. He was also a graduate of Southwestern Seminary in Dallas, Texas. David served in the United States Army. For the past fifty years, David has lived in Knoxville, where he was an active member of First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Hartsfield Shelby, and his brother-in-law, Royce (Russ) Dunham.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Ruth Shelby Dunham of Knoxville; his niece, Beth (Barry) Nelson of Nashville; his niece, Susan (Tim) Tucker of Knoxville; and his great-nephews, Seth and Reed Tucker of Knoxville.
