JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins was already in the process of forming a Drug Unit when the District Attorney General disbanded the 8th Judicial District Drug Task Force earlier this year. Goins Drug Unit was active again last week with two raids.

“I’ve always tried to be a hands-on sheriff. The members of our department work so hard preparing for and conducting these raids,” said Sheriff Goins. The sheriff loves being out in the field and says it keeps him in tune and in touch affording his team an extra set of hands as well.

Goins and the Drug Unit conducted a raid on this Mountain Road home at Caryville last Tuesday where drugs and explosives were found.

“The drug problem is our problem. The plan is to continue to grow our Drug Unit from four agents and a K-9. We also have a part-time agent,” said Goins. Talking about the unit, the sheriff says “we need this (the Drug Unit), because when community complaints come in, our focus must be on those complaints. When a citizen has a neighbor that is disrupting the neighborhood with drug activity, they don’t want action in four or five months.”

“If you are concerned about possible drug activity in your area, I encourage you to call me,” said the sheriff.  The drug hotline is strictly confidential.  The number is 423.566.DRUG (3784).  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/07/2021-6AM)
