LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Take a look at the Mt. Cloud Trails scenic tour bus; one of Jim McCloud’s ideas.  Many of you likely remember seeing the bus around town back in the day.

In this photo (circa 1953), the bus was parked in front of Lafollette High School on West Central Avenue across the street from the original Lafollette Courts. Kinda makes you wonder if some of the guest staying at the Lafollette Courts were getting ready to take the scenic tour.

Visitors to Mt. Cloud could see the Chimney Rocks, the Natural Bridge or take in the view from Outlook Rock and more. The bus tour would usually begin at the Wynn Souvenir & Gift Shop located just across Hwy 25w from the entrance to Mt. Cloud Trail.

We’re hearing that there may be another photo or two of the scenic tour bus out there. Leonard Longmire behind the wheel is thought to be one of those photos.

In 1991 a group of investors led by the late Paul Fields (Mt. Cloud Inc.) purchased the land from Jim McCloud’s daughter Ann Robertson and began developing this wonderful property according to the McCloud Mountain website. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/02/2021-6AM)
