LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The Campbell County Children’s Center Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on November 16 without the presence of Ed Wheeler. Wheeler, who had been the Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2007, passed away earlier this month.

Billy Ball opened the meeting with a word of prayer. Sandra Fuller, Vice Chairman, was nominated and elected to the Chairman position.  Sandra paid tribute to Ed and the indelible mark he left on the Children’s Center through his legacy of championing the mission of the Center to reduce the traumatization of the child abuse victims and their families by facilitating a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach.

At the close of the meeting, the Board recommitted all its energy to continue Wheeler’s mission a focus that had been set forth and that Ed so admired at the Children’s Center.

With due respect for the Wheeler family, a new Vice Chair and a new board member will be voted on at a later date.

The Campbell County Children’s Center is a child advocacy center that was founded in 2001 to provide a safe haven for sexually and physically abused children.  Instead of being interviewed countless times at different locations, a child can tell their story to one caring and specially trained professional in a child-friendly environment where the child knows he or she will be safe.  The CAC main office is in Campbell County with satellite offices in Claiborne and Union counties.
