LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The Campbell County Youth Basketball League (CCYBL) opened over the weekend.

Forty-five teams ranging from ages, Pre-K all the way up to 8th and 9th grade boys and girls have a league in which to participate. Around 300 children saw action Friday and Saturday.

Clarence Lowe with the Campbell County Cancer Association said the gate to the games went to the CCCA and totaled more than $4,000.

This weekend teams opened up the season, and all gate proceeds went to support the Campbell County Cancer Association. CCCA President Clarence Lowe, Jim Pierce and others were there Friday and Saturday to help take up money at the door of the three venues; West and East End Rec Centers and at the gym under the library.

State Rep. Dennis Powers and his wife Tracy were there Saturday in support of the cause as well. They also took in the games.
