Calvin Chadwell, age 78, of Jellico, Tennessee, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2021, at the Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, TN.  Calvin was born on March 30, 1943 to the late Colonel Lee Chadwell and Anna Lee (Hatfield) Chadwell in Jellico.

His paternal grandparents were the late Robert Lee Chadwell and Kance Jane (Marlow) Chadwell.  His maternal grandparents were the late Alvis Hatfield and Dorie Hatfield.

Calvin and his late wife, Patty, who preceded him in death on June 27, 2021, were married on July 6, 1961, as teenagers, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.  After they were married, they moved to Goshen, Indiana, where he worked at Western Rubber for more than 25 years.  He also was employed by Carriage, Inc. in Millersburg, IN, for nearly 20 years where he was awarded a “Million Safe Miles” for driving more than one-million miles accident-free.

Calvin was a member of Gospel Echoes in Goshen, IN, since 1974.

A little more than 20 years ago, Calvin and Patty chose to move back home to Jellico, where they spent the remainder of their lives.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Willa Dean (Chadwell) Wanston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James “Jim” Carroll and Dorothy (Reynolds) Carroll; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Wilson and Shirley Lawson.

He is survived by three daughters, Debra Sharp, and husband, Sam, of Jellico, Teresa Secor, and husband, John, of Sellersburg, Indiana, and Rena Schmucker, of New Paris, IN; eight grandchildren, Brandon Sharp, of Jellico, Nathan Sharp, and wife, Aleena, of Knoxville, TN, Nicole Kurtz, and husband, Derick, of Greenwood, IN, Justin Lantz, and wife, Casey, of Goshen, IN, Brittany Brown, and husband, Alan, of New Paris, IN, Derek Secor, and fiancée, Jenny North, Shelby Secor, and fiancé, Ben Weyer, and Alex Secor, and fiancée, Kaylee Worrall, all of Sellersburg, IN; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Callen Sharp, Gavin, Sophia, and Rhett Kurtz, Emersyn and Jamisyn Lantz, and Trytin, Kaidyn, Avery, and Everly Brown.

He is also survived by his sister, Norma Janey Schrock, of Goshen, IN; brother, Jack Chadwell, and wife, Sue, of La Follette, TN; uncle, Dorsey Hatfield, of White Oak, TN; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray Carroll, and wife, Sandy, of Mansfield, Ohio, Woodrow Wilson, of Knoxville, TN, and Glenn Lawson, of Jellico; seven nieces, Jenny Sue Chadwell, Lantie Eubanks, Pamela Miller, Melissa Loeser, Penny Chapman, Linda Heeter, and Ashley Schrock; one nephew, Tony Eubanks; two great-nieces, Victoria Brook Callaway, and husband, Kenneth, and Amber Kristabeth Daugherty Fitkin, and husband, Robert; one great-great niece, Willow Reese Callaway; special caregivers, Rosie Jarnigan, Sandy Johnson, and Corrina Weaver; and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives in both Jellico and Goshen to mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday evening, November 23, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Crouches Creek Baptist Church.

The funeral will immediately follow on Tuesday evening, November 23, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the Crouches Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Trey Brock and Mr. John Secor officiating.

Special music will be provided by Mr. Sam Sharp and Mr. Aaron Zecchini.

Interment will follow on Wednesday morning, November 24, 2021, at 11:30 a.m.in the Huddleston Cemetery located in the Crouches Creek Community of Jellico.  Anyone who desires to go in procession to the Huddleston Cemetery should be at Cox & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Alex Secor, Derek Secor, Nathan Sharp, Brandon Sharp, and Justin Lantz.
