LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – An alert landlord tipped off police of a possible crime last week. The landlord received a check from a tenant, Faith Nicole Evans, and noticed the check was written from someone else’s account.

The landlord contacted the woman listed on the check, and she said she rarely wrote a check because she used her debit card. After some thinking, she realized that her husband kept checks in the glove box of his truck. She went to a body shop where her husband’s truck was parked awaiting repair and discovered that the truck had been broken in to with the glove box open.

About three hours later, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified that Evans had come home to her Jacksboro Pike apartment. While making contact with Evans, the deputies saw four checks on her bed with the same names that were on the check given to the landlord.

Evans, 24, is due in court tomorrow and faces multiple charges including five counts of criminal impersonation, burglary and forgery. She’s also charged with violation of check law, criminal trespassing and theft of property under $1,000. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/17/2021-6AM)
