Anna Cain, 45, had three service aces in Thursday’s win for Bryan.

KINGSPORT, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Former Campbell Lady Cougar Anna Cain and her Bryan College Volleyball team entered the Appalachian Athletic Conference as the No. 1 seed and played their quarterfinal match against No. 9 Milligan on Thursday morning.

The Lady Lions pulled away in Set 1 to win 25-18 after the Buffaloes committed 8 attacking errors. Bryan’s offense heated up with 14 kills with a .355 hitting percentage in Set 2 to win 25-14. The Lady Lions secured the sweep in Set 3 by going on a 10-4 run to pull away for a 25-16 victory. 

INSIDE THE STATS

  • All-Conference First Team member, Gigi Ford, tallied a team-high 15 kills in the match.
  • Fellow First Team member, Abby Rector, connected for 7 kills with a .412 hitting percentage.
  • Elliott Brock anchored the defense with 16 digs.
  • Abby Cross finished with 18 assists in the match.
  • The Lady Lions scored on 10 service aces, led by Rector with 5 and Anna Cain with 3.
