LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Fox recently responded to a non-injury accident on on Old Middlesboro Hwy near Stone Gate Drive. When Fox arrived, he spoke with Gage Thaniel Matthews who reported that as he turned onto Middlesboro Hwy his blue Kia Spectra was struck by another vehicle, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

As Fox began investigating, he learned that Matthews did not have a driver’s license and the vehicle he was driving did not have insurance. The owner of the Kia soon arrived at the scene and told the deputy that Matthews had been allowed to drive the car in the past but had not been given permission to take it on this day. Matthews allegedly agreed he did not have permission to take the Kia, but he had taken it to get some money for himself and another person.

Matthews, 23, homeless, Jacksboro was charged with other, drivers license law and violation of TN financial law. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/08/2021-6AM)
