JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – It’s the last game of the season. However, for Campbell and Oak Ridge, the season continues on the road next Friday in the playoffs. What’s up for grabs tonight on Blankenship Field is pride for Oak Ridge in a season that’s fallen far, far short of expectations and playoff positioning for both Campbell and the Wildcats. Watch the game televised live over the WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network. Click on the WLAF-Lindsay’s Carpet & Paint Center to watch.
The winner takes third place in the region with the loser going to the fourth slot. The teams will either be on their way to Athens to face McMinn County or Evans to battle Rhea County.
A win for Oak Ridge allows the Wildcats to conclude their home schedule and senior night on a positive note. If history has any say, Oak Ridge comes out on top for its third win of the season against seven losses. Campbell on the other hand would like to make history with a first-ever victory on fabled field. That also counts the days of the La Follette and Oak Ridge series.
Campbell is 6 & 3 while Oak Ridge is 2 & 7. The rare losing season for Oak Ridge is its first since 2008. Both teams are 2 & 2 in the region.
There’s little doubt that Oak Ridge has played the toughest schedule of any team in Region 3 5-A. The schedule includes games with undefeated Greeneville and 6-A power Dobyns-Bennett.
