LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A K-9 training and certification seminar for regional law enforcement was held in Campbell County last week. The county hosted multiple agencies for the certification, including several agencies from Georgia and three other agencies from Tennessee.

The training and certification is something law enforcement agencies are required to do every year in order to meet federal guidelines. This is the first year Campbell County has hosted the event.

The training took place at the LaFollette Church of God, as well as at a local wrecker service impound lot.

Campbell County hosted a K-9 training and certification seminar last week. Multiple law enforcement agencies attended.

According to Campbell County Sheriff’s Lt. and K-9 handler Travis Bostic, the event went well. A total of 20 dogs were part of the training.

“We had handlers from multiple agencies here to do in-service training and their annual 40 hours of certification for their K-9s,” Bostic said.

Handlers and dogs worked on various training and certifications in detection of narcotics, explosives, search, and cadaver search.

K-9 handler Travis Bostic with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department participated in a K-9 training seminar held all of last week.

“This is a great opportunity to get together to work our dogs and enjoy what we do as handlers; we always have a blast,” the Lieutenant said.

On behalf of the sheriff’s department and other agencies involved, he also wanted to extend a thank you to those involved.

“We also want to say a big thanks to LaFollette Church of God and to Sweat’s Wrecker for being gracious enough to host our training,” Bostic said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/26/2021-6AM)
