LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Tuesdays are The Doorway Gourmet (above) days at WLAF. The staff here enjoys a delicious lunch from The Doorway Gourmet. It’s a “unique catering kitchen” that offers packaged meals with fresh ingredients that are ready to cook for your convenience. Sandwiches and salads are also available.

Tuesday’s menu includes Creamy Chicken Enchiladas. It’s a slow-cooked chicken breast with onion, green chilis, and Monterey jack cheese served wrapped in flour tortillas and covered with a cream cheese sauce. It is served with salsa and corn chips. The two serving size is $17.99, and the four serving is $32.99. Call in your order early at 423.494.3391.

Whether you’re hosting a business meeting, celebrating a birthday or just enjoying time with family, you can enjoy a healthy meal without the effort with an oven ready dish. 

Oven Dish dinners are for family or work gatherings and are made available in two or four serving units. All dinners come in containers that are ready to bake. 

The business also offers salads and desserts, as well as drinks. Orders are available for curbside pickup or delivery. The business had weekly menu changes, but also has certain items always available such as side salads, hoagies, chicken apple salad and more.

Started and operated by Nancy Thompson, the Doorway Gourmet is a “Christ-centerd for profit, limited liability company that was founded solely with the mission to provide perpetual funding for the Annie Caldwell Foundation.” The business opened up in May of this year.

The Annie Caldwell Foundation is a non profit organized and operated for charitable purposes, specifically to provide grant funding for organizations in Campbell County operating addiction recovery programs to improve the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health of those seeking a path from drug addiction. 

According to Thompson, any funds made over the operating cost of the business go to the foundation. 

“We wanted to set up the foundation in Annie’s honor because she has done so much for the community, but we needed a way to fund it and that’s how we came up with the idea for the Doorway Gourmet,” Thompson said. 

According to Thompson, by 2022, the Annie Caldwell Foundation will begin to grant funds to Campbell County programs that provide services in drug recovery.

The community has been responsive to the idea, with the business often selling out of menu items for the last couple weeks. 

“We are so thankful for the community’s support, it’s just been wonderful,” Thompson said.
