JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Coming off their big 42-0 win over Horace Maynard last night, the Eagles of Jacksboro Middle School are back in ‘The Game.’ It will take place not this Saturday but the following Saturday October 30th.

Jacksboro Quarterback Logan Belew is on the move for the Eagles.

TMSAA Championship Saturday will take place on Reynolds Field on the campus of Campbell County High School, and your Eagles are one of the guests.

The games will go as follows:

1A Championship at noon

2A Championship at 3:00PM

3A Championship at 6:00PM (Jacksboro’s game)

JMS Coach Cody Parker is looking to do what former Coach Brent Peel, and current Jellico High coach, did during his tenure at JMS, and that is win the state. Parker has a good chance to do just that. The Eagles will play the winner of SMMS / Cherokee on Oct. 30.

You can barely see it but #15 Elijah Johnson skies for a score for Jacksboro.

Last night’s game started out as JMS quarterback #23 Logan Belew threw an interception on a long pass down the right sideline. That ended up being about the only highlight for the Horace Maynard Red Devils as the Eagles, who hadn’t played a meaningful game in a while, woke up and ran their offense. The defense was also outstanding.

After the defense stopped HMMS, quarterback Logan Belew and #15 Elijah Johnson went to work on the offensive side of the ball. When it was over, the Eagles are headed back to ‘Championship Saturday.’

I asked head coach Cody Parker who would he say was his defensive player of the game and he replied “the whole team was good to get the shutout.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/22/2021-9AM)
