JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – There was a robbery at the Jacksboro Walmart just after 7pm Thursday based on information from officials at 911. The robbery triggered a response from multiple agencies and ended with shots being fired, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Related story.

According to central dispatch records, a call to 911 came in at 7:20pm.  A male subject with a white face mask and a hoodie stole from the Walmart Pharmacy, according to 911 records.

According to the TBI, officers later tried to stop the suspect and ended up pursuing him onto I-75 north.  The chase ended with the officer involved shooting and the suspect being fatally shot.  No officers were injured, the TBI reported. At 7:36pm, an ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the shooting. 

This is how it looked in downtown La Follette around 10pm Thursday night as interstate traffic was detoured through town.

TDOT reported that the wreck at the scene of the shooting resulted in northbound lanes being closed.  Traffic was forced to be rerouted exiting at Exit 134 sending travelers through Caryville, Jacksboro and La Follette and then north on Highway 25W and back onto the interstate at Jellico.
