George Verlin Blankenship, age 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, October 8, 2021. He was a proud Army veteran, deployed during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a truck driver in the Army and retired from Food Lion. He was a Christian and member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Preceded in death be parents: George and Elsie Hassler Blankenship, sister: Ruth, brothers: Jack, Carl and Buddy Joe Blankenship.

Wife of 57 years Helen Beaty Blankenship
Son: Brent Blankenship and wife Stacy
Granddaughter: Tori Blankenship who was the love of his life
Grandchildren by marriage: Justin, Cody and Jennifer Willoughby
Great-grandchildren: Addie, Natalie, Greg Willoughby
Sisters: Sue Ayers, Trula Broyles
Brothers: Lonnie and Johnny Blankenship
Several nieces and nephews a host of friends

Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday Cross-Smith Funeral Home with Funeral Service 7 PM Cross-Smith Chapel, Rev. Bryan Burge officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:15 AM Tuesday Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Campbell Memorial Gardens for 11 AM Interment with Military Honors given by Campbell County Honor Guard.
