JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Lady Cougars hosted the Clinton Dragons Tuesday evening.
The match began with each team playing high intensity soccer on both sides of the ball. The Cougars had multiple shots on goal keeping the Dragon’s goalkeeper busy. Many shots were taken, none was successful. Although the Cougars defense was missing a starting wing as Lily Hatfield was out with an injury, they still presented a strong defensive line holding the Dragons to two goals at the half. The second half began with a quick goal from the Dragons in the third minute. Sophomore Harley Smith managed to sneak one in past the keeper in the twenty-first minute of the second half giving the Cougars their only goal of the match.
Darkness quickly fell, but the officials did not call the game as in the previous home game. Aided by the poor visibility and dampness the Dragons scored one last goal before the final whistle leaving the score 4-1.
The final match of the regular season will take place on Thursday against Karns. The venue and start time have yet to be determined. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/06/2021-6AM)
