This is the area of land in east LaFollette, over the hill from the hospital, on Del Rio Lane the City is purchasing.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The City of LaFollette Public Works Department has found a solution to its lack of space issues. During September’s regular monthly meeting, the La Follette City Council agreed to purchase 4.4 acres of land on Del Rio Lane.

The city has been interested in the property for a while that carries a price tag of $180,000. Tuesday evening, Resolution 2021-16 amending the 2021/22 budget to purchase that land on Del Rio Lane was approved.

The public works department had nowhere to grow until more land was purchased.

It was a packed house at last night’s LaFollette City Council meeting.

Rhonda Longmire spoke to the council about the positive impact Postmark LaFollette has made on the youth and members of the community.

The room was filled with artisans of all ages and representatives from Postmark LaFollette. JoAnne Myers and Karen Cumorich appeared at last week’s workshop requesting time to speak to the new council about Postmark LaFollette and its mission. Marie Asher was promoted to full time administrative assistant at a salary of $31,200. She replaces Joy Chapman who recently resigned. The council agreed to open an additional checking account for special funds the city is slated to receive.
