CLINTON, TN (WLAF) – After a scoreless first half, the Campbell Cougars scratched out a 14-6 win over the Dragons on Clinton’s home field Friday night in a key region game. The Cougars improve to 6 & 1 while Clinton slips to 3 & 4. Watch the game HERE on demand and view the box score HERE.

A 20-point third quarter made up for the three other scoreless quarters for Campbell and Clinton on Friday night. All 20-points went up on the board in less than four minutes.

Campbell struck first when Hunter White found Ethan Miller on a 35-yard touchdown connection with 3:09 to go in the third quarter. Clinton answered with a 56-yard pass, catch and score to make it 14-6 followed by a missed try for a two-point conversion at the two-minute mark. Fifty-eight seconds later, White and Miller strike again. White hit Miller with a pass in front of the Clinton bench, and the speedy Number 1, Miller, raced 72 yards to pay dirt. Latham Carr made both PATs and Campbell had all the points it needed.

Miller had four catches for 128 yards and the two scores while C.J. Allen ground out 141 yards on 18 carries. Peyton Ferguson’s 57-yard kick-off return was another of the night’s highlights. White was 10 for 25 for 179 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Campbell was even more impressive on defense as Will Lester tallied four solo tackles. The Cougar “D” posted four sacks on the night coming from Caleb Muncy, Josh Heatherly, Blake Roberts and Zac Brady. Roberts led the way with two tackles for loss while Muncy, Heatherly and Brady each had a TFL.
