KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan Huskey was off duty and traveling north on I-75 near the Merchants Drive Exit in Knoxville when he saw a black 2011 Toyota Tundra driving all over the roadway from lane to lane almost striking several vehicles, walls, and guard rails.

Huskey called the Knoxville Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol to advise them of the situation. He then called Deputy Shayne Wilburn to give him a heads up on the vehicle. According to a report from the sheriff’s department, Wilburn drove to I-75’s northbound side at Exit 134 and saw the truck. He traveled behind the vehicle for a mile, during which time the Tundra crossed the yellow line on the right and left lane, he road in the middle of the white line and cut off a semi-truck without any turn signals. Deputy Wilburn was able to stop the Toyota Tundra at the 135 mile marker of I-75.

Wilburn walked up to the truck and started talking to the driver, Kenneth Allen Seaman, who allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. He had slurry speech, droopy eyes and his pupils were very constricted when Wilburn’s flashlight was facing towards him. When asked where he was coming from, Seaman reported that he had sold his friend a vehicle and was picking up a payment from him. Wilburn asked if Seaman had drank any alcohol or taken any narcotics before getting behind the wheel, he replied that he “doesn’t smoke marijuana or drink alcohol any longer.”

Seaman was asked to step out of the truck to perform field sobriety tests. He performed poorly on the tests, and he was placed under arrest and transported to the Campbell County Jail. While waiting to go into the pat down room at the jail, Seaman would slump over and pass out until staff woke him up or said something to him. He admitted to taking Zyrtec, but he didn’t say when or how many.

Seaman, 41, of 164 Webb Lane, Newcomb was charged with driving under influence (DUI), reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, no signal and violation of TN financial law. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/01/2021-6AM)
