LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Al Riggs Pharmacy was the prefect stop for a cherry coke float before going to the Cherokee Theatre next door in Downtown La Follette.  In this Throwback Thursday photo, WLAF’s Charlie Hutson takes us back to the 1960s.

Al Riggs Pharmacy was tucked between the Cherokee and the Circus Grocery.  In the early ’60s, the Al Riggs Pharmacy went out, after his passing, as did the Cherokee Theatre.

The Cherokee Theatre became Winkler’s Pharmacy (now Wender’s Furniture) and Al Riggs Pharmacy was the new home for Bowman’s Jewelry. Just a few years later, the Circus Grocery building was razed and became the walk way from Central Avenue to the city parking lot.
