Joyce Faye Proffitt, age 72 of Speedwell, a beloved pastors’ wife went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at her home. She was born April 16, 1949, to the late Harvey Green and Opal Gaylor Green.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother that served the Lord as a pianist at Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 40 years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending church.

She is survived by her loving husband Donald Richard Proffitt of Speedwell; sons Mark Proffitt and wife Linda of Jacksboro and Chad Proffitt and wife Phyllis of LaFollette; daughter Monica White and husband Shane of Jacksboro; grandchildren Desmond Proffitt, Paul Proffitt, Izzy Proffitt, Koltin White, Tyler Wilson, Jordan Heatherly, and Shirley Couch; great grandchildren Jahayla Faylynn Shelby; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Speedwell. Joyce will lie in state from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM with her husband Donald Proffitt officiating. Interment will follow funeral service to Beeler cemetery.

The family would like to encourage anyone that Mrs. Joyce has taught piano to over the years to play a gospel song of their choice during her visitation hours on Saturday or Sunday.
