CLINTON, TN (WLAF)- Ann Higginbotham touched lives as an educator in Campbell County and Middlesboro City Schools. In Sept. 2016 she died from ovarian cancer. But her legacy has lived on in many ways, including an annual event that benefits students in Campbell and Anderson County Schools through the Ann Higginbotham Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The event, Be a Beast 5K, is slated for Sept. 25 at Anderson County High School, 130 Maverick Circle, Clinton.

The run will begin at Anderson County High School in the parking lot facing Charles G. Seivers Boulevard, near the library. It will travel up Charles G. Seivers Boulevard toward Clinton Physical Therapy Center; resulting in an up and down course. Participants will run 1.5 miles, turn around, and end in the parking area where the race started.

A One Mile Fun walk will also be held. The walk will be out a half mile and back.  It will begin after the race approximately 8:35.

This event will also offer the community ovarian cancer awareness.

Participants who register on or before Sept. 13 will be guaranteed their selected shirt size. Participants who register after Sept. 13 are not guaranteed their selected shirt size.

The registration fee is $25 plus a $2.95 sign up fee. The fee increases to $30 after Sept. 24
