KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The Lady Cougars traveled to Central High School’s Coach Dan Y. Boring Stadium to take on the Bobcats Tuesday evening. The Cougars were met with a very strong team which commanded possession of the ball most of the game. Amber Cowell’s full photo gallery is HERE.
Faith Elkins played keeper again as Makenzie York remains out with a hand injury until next week. The Cougars’ leading scorer, Sage Elwin, was kept at bay by the Bobcats’ defense which kept her covered up throughout the match. Without having an open striker to pass the ball, the Cougars offense never found traction. During the second half, Zaylyn Ivey was put in goal allowing Elkins to come out on the field bringing a spark back to the game, although she was never able to score.
The Lady Cougars fell to the Bobcats 7-0.
After the Varsity game, the JV squad put in some much needed playing time which has been hard to find this season due to games being cancelled from injury, weather and COVID. The young team shows much promise for the future although ultimately falling to the Bobcats 4-0.
The Lady Cougars end a jammed packed week this Thursday as they host Oliver Springs. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/15/2021-6AM)
