JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A possibly intoxicated man sent Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Courtney Charles to 300 Arnold Circle on Aug. 28. It was alleged a man was standing in the middle of the road “talking out of his head” and possibly intoxicated.

When the deputy arrived, Sgt. Joshua Jeffers was already on the scene talking with the man who was identified as Jim G. Carver. Charles observed Carver to be sweating profusely, unable to stand still and making statements about being God and the devil. Carver became more belligerent pacing around in the roadway yelling and cursing at the Charles and Jeffers based on the narrative. When officers asked the man step to out of the roadway, he replied, “I own this road” according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Officers determined the man was a danger to himself and others due to being in the roadway. When the officers told Carver to turn around that he was going to be put into custody for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, he began to pull away and refused to comply with the officers. Carver was taken to the ground where he continued to resist by not complying and placing his hands behind his back. Charles, Jeffers and Deputy R. Wasson were able to gain control after a brief struggle and handcuff the man.

Carver, 42, 6841 State Road 144, Greenwood, IN was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/07/2021-6AM)
